PROFILE OF PIOUS PONSIANO KINTU
LAY EVANGELIST WITH GIFTS OF PRAYER AND HEALING THROUGH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Pious Ponsiano Kintu (Congo's beloved frere Pius) has spent most of his life "on the move" in many parts of Africa and Western Europe.
The young Pious received his first sacraments in Kiyinda-Mityana Roman Catholic Diocese, Uganda.
Three people made a deep impression on his early christian formation.
His widowed mother who walked several miles through bush and farmland to attend the daily morning Mass (to the amusement of many villagers).
His grandfather, who ensured recitation of the Holy Rosary by the whole family every evening.
An uncle, the Rector of a Minor Seminary, whom the young Pious loved and considered to be very holy.
It was during the many travels as a youth that Pious Kintu developed a deep devotion to Padre Pio and the Lay Capuchin Spirituality, which he practices to date.
Pious Kintu actively promotes the message of
African Stigmatist Sr. Josephine Sul of Luiza Diocese. She is a religious of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Grace, DR Congo. Her page is included on this website under AFRICAN STIGMATIST
.
Pious Ponsiano Kintu has spent all of his adult life travelling from parish to parish, always upon invitation, (with his Bible, St. Benedict crucifix, and the Holy Rosary), praying for and with Roman Catholic faithful from all walks of life - individually, in families, groups or very large congregations.
Pious feels great empathy with the needy - both spiritual and temporal. This gift has enabled him to touch millions of lives through direct encounters, multi-media, and the mobile phone.
.
Pious Kintu once described himself as being "like Jonah".
A young Kenyan medical doctor compared Pious Kintu to "the Kenyan steam locomotive upcountry passenger and goods train of the 1970s, which would stop at each and every station to load and off-load" (through doors and windows, to be precise!).
Pious Kintu is an instrument of Jesus in The Blessed Sacrament whom Our Lord uses to bring consolation and hope to the sick, the displaced, the marginalised, and the most forsaken.
.
Pious Kintu promotes devotion to the daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and frequent recitation of the Holy Rosary.
He has influenced the establishment of Adoration Chapels in various urban churches.

A page about her is included on this website.
.
His concern for the environment has led Pious to promote tree planting - for shade, for agricultural use and as wind breakers.
Pious Kintu is well known for his large consignments of millions of seeds from one parish to another, and for influencing the establishment of tree nurseries.
There is a large collection of photographs of the scenery that Pious encounters on his journeys.
